Year: 2026 | Client : Baltan Laboratories
Designers: Raphael Coutin, Ivo Hulskamp

For BlablaLab, the experimental co-working and making space initiated by Baltan Laboratories, Bygg designed a series of custom furniture elements including cabinets, foldable tables, large communal tables and a sofa.

The project focused on creating an affordable, robust and approachable interior language that could support both concentrated work and informal experimentation. Positioned somewhere between a workshop, office and creative laboratory, BlablaLab required furniture that felt practical and open rather than polished or corporate.

We selected pine plywood and linoleum as the main materials. The plywood brings a straightforward workshop aesthetic that feels accessible and familiar, while allowing the furniture to remain durable and easy to produce. Linoleum was chosen for both its material qualities and its cultural familiarity. Often remembered from the floors of schools and public buildings, it is a versatile, tactile and highly durable material made from natural ingredients and entirely free of plastic.

The furniture pieces are simple and direct in their construction, carefully dimensioned to fit the different uses and atmospheres within the space. The sofa became the playful element of the intervention. Its form was inspired by the BlablaLab logo and developed through a simple construction: three PVC tubes wrapped in foam and upholstery, suspended between two CNC-cut plywood side panels.

The colourful upholstery contrasts with the sobriety of the plywood interior, introducing a softer and more playful atmosphere into the workspace.
